Dirty Pretty Little Things

Many really attractive people throughout time have played evil characters in the movies and tv shows. I can’t tell you the last time I saw an unattractive vampire. I remember when they use to be hideous and scary looking, like Count Dracula, now they look like Robert Patterson & Kate Beckinsale. There used to be a tv show called “Charmed”, three sisters, all pretty, their characters were “Good Witches”. Isn’t that an oxymoron? Goodness being associated with the occult is crazy, yet it’s done all the time, a common theme on many television shows, especially ones presented to little children.
Witchcraft is real and there is nothing good about it.

It’s amazing isn’t it, how over time movies and tv shows present wicked things in a really attractive & appealing package? And in mainstream media and films the “Mean Girl” in most cases is the prettiest girl in the movie, coincidence maybe? I don’t think so. These things are made to desensitize us, all of it, the “Good witches” the little children being witches and warlocks. Bad looks good and good looks bad. No surprise really that more often the good guy/girl in movies are the ones with the “sad life”, or like one of my friends use to say, “living a sad existence”. They’re usually made to look unattractive and they follow all the rules, until somebody persuades them to change and they experience what it’s like to be bad and how much “fun” they’ve been missing out on, so they no longer want to return to their “sad existence” anymore.

In films, more often, they make it seem as though if you’re good, your life’s going to be pretty lonely and sad and pathetic, unless you conform to the ways of the “bad boy” then the chicas start beating your door down. Sin is very deceptive, in the attractive neat little packaging it comes in, it looks appealing, feels appealing, tastes appealing, but the damage it intends on doing is extensive and in most cases long term, but it does not have to be indelible. We’re so fortunate to have a Savior and friend in Christ Jesus, who came to save us from sin, who came to destroy the works of the enemy, and who is forgiving, able to forgive for even the worst things we can imagine and may have even done. 

Remember that old adage, “All that glitters ain’t gold”? It’s very true. More often it’s not even bronze, in most cases it’s something with no real value at all. I say all this to say one thing, don’t allow the enemy to deceive you, for it is written that; “For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” 2 Corinthians 11:14. Also, ”The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10-10. The thief is the enemy, the enemy is the devil; But Jesus came that (we) may have life and have it more abundantly. May God’s Holy Spirit lead you to all truth and understanding in the ways of the Lord.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” John 15:1-8
